What are thinkers keys?

img_0878.jpgIn our classroom we are beginning to use Tony Ryan ‘thinkers keys’ as a thinking and learning tool. 

Understanding the twenty different thinkers keys, helps us to think more flexibly whilst learning.

 This is some examples of what the thinkers keys are and how we can use them.

The Alphabet
List A - Z words associated with Australian leisure activities.

The Inventions
Design a machine for icing lamingtons.

The Ridiculous
Try to justify this statement:
“Ayers Rock should be blown up, with the fragments being sold as souvenirs throughout the world”.

The Commonality
What are the similarities between droughts and $2 coins?

The Reverse
Name ten things you will never see in Australia.

The Disadvantages
What are some of the disadvantages of the Hills roatry hoist clothes line.  What improvements could you make.

The Question
The answer is the meat pie. What are five possible questions?

The Picture
What could this picture have to do with Australia?

The Different Uses
Find ten different uses for a Kylie Minogue record. 

The Brainstorming
Brainstorm solutions for: How to prevent erosion.

The Disadvantage
What are some of the disadvantages of being an ambitious mountain climber? How might they be overcome?

The Variations
How many ways can you connect Tasmaina to the mainland.

The Prediction
Name five Australian creatures which will be extinct within thirty years.

The BAR
Use BAR to improve the design of a camping tent.

B - Bigger What could be made bigger?
A - Add What could be added to the design?
R - Remove or Replace What could be removed from the design?
